An exciting opportunity has arisen within the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust's Resuscitation Services team. Resuscitation Services are responsible for delivering comprehensive, high quality resuscitation education across all parts of University Hospitals Sussex and with external partners, including training, education, policy development, equipment standardisation, audit and support at clinical emergencies.
Being part of the Resus Services team will give you an excellent opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in resuscitation education. Teaching MDT groups in the basic life support of adults and children and, if you're already an RCUK/ALSG instructor, teaching on those courses too. If you aren't already an RCUK/ALSG instructor, working with us will be a great opportunity to develop the technical and non-technical knowledge/skills to develop into an instructor with support to achieve this.
Whilst our primary role is education, resus practitioners also carry a bleep and, when possible, attend emergencies to support the cardiac arrest & MET team.
Main duties of the job
The Resuscitation Practitioner (RP) is responsible for the provision (delivery and monitoring of standards) of mandatory resuscitation training for all medical, nursing and ancillary staff employed by University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will also deliver training to external organisations to generate income for the Trust.
The RP will as per team rota provide clinical support to teams based at Southlands CDC
To implement, maintain & grow education packages using Simulation & Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) service within UHSussex.
The RP will have a clinical role, attending medical emergencies and cardiac arrest calls, providing expert advice and clinical support to ensure safe, high quality patient care.
The RP will attend Resuscitation Operational Management Group (ROMG) meetings, providing professional advice and feedback on issues such as audit, equipment and training.
The RP will identify areas of the service for improvement and contribute to the resuscitation services strategy for service development.
