Job summary

The opportunity has arisen for a unique role within the Clinical Support Services (CSS) Division at University Hospitals Sussex. The division is made up of directorates - Pathology, Imaging/Radiography, Therapies/Dietetics, Pharmacy and Outpatient Nursing. The diversity means you will need to have exquisite detail of Quality, safety risk and Governance to allow the development of the Divisional governance agenda, clinical outcomes and effectiveness, contract and business governance and health/safety to ensure all components and professions of are both safe and understood.

You will be able to develop your well honed negotiation, influencer, coaching and mentoring skills to work alongside the subject matter expert quality leads. You will be responsible for providing leadership to develop, drive and co-ordinate Governance, Quality and Risk Management Strategies across the Division which are cohesive with the Trust Vision. This will include working alongside and providing support for highly skilled directorate leads to have an overview of HTA, IRMER, UKAS and other accreditations to ensure action plans are delivered to a high standard.

Main duties of the job

This fantastic role is a key member of the Divisional senior team. You will be able to demonstrate superb, high level communication skills and to act on behalf of the Divisional Director of AHP's and the Director of the Clinical Support Services Division to ensure that integrated governance strategies are embedded and consistent across the division and directorate groups and to highlight and support actions regarding emerging themes or trends which may have a detrimental impact on achievement of good governance and the delivery of key quality objectives relating to the Trust's strategic objectives and the Patient First programme. As part of the divisional leadership teams you will have the opportunity to foster excellent working relationships across clinical, operational and corporate teams and, through your own gemba plan, demonstrate connection with and support to frontline staff.

The post encompasses the ability to employ effective change management skills to empower staff to bring about service improvements from learning and the sharing of learning. To support the CSS by contributing expert integrated all-encompassing governance advice, information and guidance to the Divisional triumvirate through coaching, mentoring and teaching and monitor the completion of action plans associated with patient safety incidents, complaints, claims, inquests or other investigations and that these remain embedded within the division.
