Job summary
At UHSussex, we are looking for enthusiastic Consultant Neurologists to join our existing team of Consultants and Specialist Nurses to support the Neurology service provided at St Richards Hospital in Chichester and Worthing Hospital. Although based at the aforementioned Hospitals, the Trust wide Neurology Department includes services provided at the new Louisa Martindale site in Brighton and at the Princess Royal Hospital at Haywards Heath.
Main duties of the job
The posts represent an addition to the existing Neurology Services across Sussex and in particular meeting the rising demand for neurology clinic appointments. The posts are full time (10pa's) and are a mixture of outpatient clinics and providing neurological advice to inpatients on general wards. There is no neurology ward at either Hospital. Applicants who are unable or not wishing to work full time are still invited to apply as are those who wishing to job share.

- To hold 3.5 general neurology outpatient clinics.
- To share responsibility for any patient admitted directly under or transferred to the care of the neurology department at RSCH.
- To participate in the neurology departments regular ward referral service. Currently the new post holder will see ward referral on two/ three days per week, with other Consultants responsible for the other days.
- To share responsibility for any patient admitted directly under or transferred to the care of the neurology department.
- To undertake domiciliary visits at the request of colleagues.
- Responsibility for general professional training of the junior medical staff and contributing to the training of nurses and other staff, and participating in the activities of the Post Graduate Medical Centre including medical audit.
- Administrative duties associated with the care of the patients, training, and running of the clinical department.

- Basic Medical degree
- CCT in Neurology or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- Entry onto GMC specialist register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
- MRCP or appropriate specialist qualification
