Job summary
- To lead on the functional operations of the IPC team who have primary responsibility for generating accurate Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) , Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) and Surgical Site Infection (SSI) surveillance data for mandatory reporting.
- To ensure there is timely and innovative antimicrobial resistance, SSI and HCAI data to support audits, clinical guidelines and new services aimed at improving the appropriateness of antimicrobial use and reducing HCAI's.
- To support the HCAI research projects by conducting independent and collaborative research projects and providing statistical and study design support to other researchers.
- To ensure that the Trust SSI Surveillance programme is implemented, taking proper account of the relevant national guidelines
- Provide senior leadership support to the Infection Control Doctor, IPC team, , wider infection teams and relevant stakeholders at the Trust.
- Be responsible for aligning our approach to epidemiology, AMS, SSI and HCAI surveillance into a coherent service with pharmaco-epidemiological practice being at its core.
- Act as service lead to ensure the delivery of the SSIS programme Trust wide.

Main duties of the job
