Job summary
Applications are invited for the above post of Fixed Term Consultant Medical Oncologist with interest in breast cancer based primarily at Eastbourne and the Sussex Cancer Centre in Brighton, part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
The "Sussex Cancer Centre Oncology Service" is a team of oncologists who are employed through University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust working across the county providing clinical and medical oncology care to the population of Sussex. This includes provision of clinical non-surgical cancer treatments across 5 hospital locations - Hastings, Eastbourne, Brighton, Haywards Heath and Worthing
The new appointee will work along side fellow clinical & medical oncology consultants, and a MDT team of CNSs and support workers and help provide high quality care for patients across Sussex
The appointee will have an On Call Commitment. This is currently under review but likely 1 in 16.
We are aiming for a start date in the first half of September 2023
Main duties of the job
The appointee will join the team of 25 Clinical/medical consultant oncologists who works across Sussex (Worthing, Brighton, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne and Hastings) in delivering a comprehensive oncology service for patients from across the Trust. Key duties will include regular outpatient clinics, MDM attendance, SACT prescribing and oversight, clinical supervision of non-medical staff, clinical governance, service developments, ward reviews and on call.
The appointee will contribute to teaching and supervision of medical students, junior medical staff and AHP/nurses.

- Basic medical degree
- MB BS, or appropriate specialist qualification
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- CCT in Medical Oncology or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 12 months of starting the role
