Band 2 Emergency Nursing Assistant

Emergency Department, Worthing HospitalAn exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 2 ENA, to join the Emergency Department at Worthing Hospital, part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.We currently see approximately 95,000 patients per year, with 25% of patients we see being children. We are also a designated Trauma unit and have been rated as an "Outstanding Department" by the CQC.The Emergency Department consists of a 5 adult and 1 Paediatric Resuscitation bays. 23 Major spaces, made up of 15 trolleys and 8 chairs, x2 Rapid Assessment Bays, a 10 chair Ambulatory Clinical Decision's Unit.

Worthing ED has a dedicated Paediatric ED, which provides a separate waiting area, 4 cubicles and further assessment rooms. We also have a co-located Urgent Treatment Centre, for the treatment of Minor Injuries and Illness.As a outstanding department, we are keen to recruit enthusiastic, motivated staff, who has excellent communication skills and are able to work in a fast paced and at times challenging environment.We have an established induction programme to support you, led by our Team Leaders and Practice Development Team.Posts are internal rotation, staff work in 2 ED areas per shift, this ensures staff health and wellbeing is maintained and access to different skills and knowledge.

Main duties of the job

As a ENA, you will be supporting the Registered nurses with the initial care of patients on arrival. You will support patients with their personal needs and care including washing and toileting

The role can also lead to a range of career opportunities. With the right support, those who want to can undertake the necessary training to become our future Nursing Associates and Registered Nurses.

  • Provide high quality evidence based clinical care to patients, in line with the Trust values and in accordance with professional regulations
  • Work with others to protect and promote the health and wellbeing of those in your care, their families and carers, and the wider community
  • To work in line with Trust policies, objectives, protocols and local guidelines
  • To act as a role model communicating in line with Trust values, to patients, carers and the staff at all times.
  • Accept delegated responsibility for specific activities/areas from the senior nurse in charge, recognising and working within the limits of your competence.
