Job summary

We are pleased to offer this exciting improvement role, which is at the forefront of delivering the new Trust's strategy for continuous improvement and transformation of our corporate and clinical services. You will be part of the Kaizen Office senior team and you will be leading a new team of experienced continuous improvement project managers. You will work closely with clinical, operational and corporate services to lead complex continuous improvement programmes of work that will deliver the Trust's strategy.

We are looking for an experienced and aspirational leader with a proven track record of delivering change in a complex environment. You will have sound communication and relationship management skills and high personal impact and resilience. You will have a well-developed understanding of Patient First and will play a leading role in its evolution and implementation throughout the Trust.

Applicants should have extensiveknowledge of continuous improvement methods such as Lean, Six Sigma, Systems Thinking andexperience of applying these methods and toolse.g.A3 Thinking, PDSA, DMAIC to deliver change and lead improvement teams in a complex environment. You will have a passionfor developing leaders thinking about improvement behavioursand for supporting frontline staff to make daily continuous improvement to build a lasting culture of improvement across the organisation.

Main duties of the job

To provide the leadership, development and delivery of the Trust's Improvement Projects pillar as part of the Patient First Improvement Programme (PFIP) and ensure activities are aligned to the rest of the Programme.

Lead the development and delivery of training programmes to all levels of staff to build continuous improvement project capability including accredited Yellow and Green Belt training. Foster excellent working relationships with Executive sponsor and Director level SROs to ensure all Breakthrough Objective improvement projects are delivered in line with agreed roadmaps and are consistent with continuous improvement methodology.

Ensure staff are equipped with the skills to deliver their own projects and ensure a measurement system is in place to track improvement project delivery in their areas.

Responsible for the cascade of continuous improvement leader behaviours through direct coaching and support at all levels of the organisation and the promotion of continuous improvement across the Trust's business.

Provide expert continuous improvement project knowledge to enable value stream transformation including delivery of Rapid Process Improvement Workshops.

  • Educated to masters level in relevant discipline or equivalent experience
  • Continuous Improvement or demonstrable experience at equivalent level
  • Track record of delivering end to end value stream/departmental improvement projects evidencing systemic / transformational change
  • Experience of providing continuous improvement training and coaching

Desirable

  • Accredited Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience of running continuous improvement teams in healthcare or other environment
  • Experience in a continuous improvement system, ideally in the NHS
  • Experience of Executive level coaching Programme governance
