Paramedic Senior Research Fellow

  • Band 8a -£50,952 to £57,349
  • 18.75 hours per week - permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Research Team, the successful candidate will support the Head of Research and Research Manager in the continued provision of robust and quality research across the Trust.

They will make a significant contribution to the Trust's research income, research reputation and the development of research culture. They will take an active lead on research development and delivery and develop collaborative leadership in research across the Trust and South East Coast region including other NHS Trusts, Industry, voluntary and third sector organisations.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Head of Research, this is an exciting opportunity to work within the Medical Directorate of an innovative and developing Trust contributing to the expansion and development of the Trust's portfolio of research.

Job responsibilities

The Senior Research Fellow will be an excellent researcher with a proventrack record and established portfolio that can lead and inspire others in the field of ambulance clinical care and research.

They will make a significant contribution to the Trusts research income, research reputation and the development of research culture. They will take an active lead on research development and delivery.

They will work closely with the Head of Research on all aspects of management of the research portfolio, including leading on the development of expanding the Trust Research portfolio of activities.

The successful candidate will develop collaborative leadership in research across the Trust and South East Coast region including other NHS Trusts, Industry, voluntary and third sector organisations.

They will assist with the development of grant applications where the Trustacts as lead applicant, sponsor or co-applicant and provide strategic adviceon how best to facilitate these studies.

They will oversee the development and work streams of a number of studyspecific Research Paramedics within the Research and DevelopmentDepartment to ensure workloads are manageable and associated targets are being effectively met.

Qualifications/Training

Essential

  • Holds PhD or other doctoral qualification
  • Registered with the HCPC as a Paramedic
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and clinical development

Knowledge

Essential

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience of research
  • Knowledge of working policies and processes of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and the Clinical Research Networks (CRN)
  • Extensive knowledge of research processes, procedures, methodologies, and acquired through training or experience in research

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a variety of research settings
  • Experience of delivering and leading (as PI or CI) clinical research in the NHS
  • A significant record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications and research dissemination at external conferences
  • Experience of applying for, and attracting research funding awards
  • Demonstrates recent clinical work as a HCPC Paramedic

Skills

Essential

  • Experience of working IT skills to include data management, statistical analysis and management and analysis of qualitative data.
  • Demonstrates strong relationship building and networking skills with a variety of organisations
  • Ability to work independently to produce Rapid Evidence Assessments, systematic reviews etc. as required
  • Experience of, developing and delivering educational sessions on subjects relevant to research
  • Ability to undertake day to day management /line manager responsibilities.
