Emergency Driving Instructor (Part Time)

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Trust to recruit qualified, competent and committed driving instructors to work within the Driver Training Department. Working from strategically located centres within SECamb they will assist in the training of the staff required to fulfil the needs of the Trusts Workforce Plan.

The successful applicant's primary responsible will be delivering driver training and education on the FutureQuals L3CERAD driving course, in addition they will also conduct vocational driver training, education and assessment to other members of the Trust when this is required.

You will become part of a highly qualified and motivated team that continually look for strategies to improve the learner experience, you will also form part of the internal quality assurance process for our department to ensure our high standards are maintained.

We are therefore looking for someone who can take instruction and work through their workload efficiently, who is organised and has the ability to embrace the new initatives relating to driver education and training.

Main duties of the job

  • To deliver specialised advanced emergency response driver training courses, whilst assessing the driving capabilities of all clinical grades, trust wide.
  • To assess, test and evaluate staff whilst delivering emergency response driver training course, as dictated by driving policies.
  • Provide educational driving development and support to staff.
  • Managing the delivery of quality assurance as set by, the national awarding body.
  • Deliver FutureQuals L3CERAD & future DERADI students
  • Deliver driving assessments, coaching, teaching evaluation, advice and driving supervision of ALL operational staff and managers,
  • Ensure that experienced supervision and advice are available to operational staff and crews.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Supervise and organise the operation and compliance of Emergency Response ADIs and external contractors.
  • Internally Quality Assure, 100% of all course material completed by students set by awarding body
  • Provide core and developmental driver training and driver training educational programmes to all grades of staff in line with their scope of practice and Trust educational strategies.
  • Ensure the content of all delivered, driving education and training programmes meets the requirements and standards set by the awarding/accrediting body and the trusts governance requirements.
  • Carry out performance reviews on external emergency driving instructors, as per IQA process
  • Identify individual driver training core and development needs of staff whilst on driving course and compile action plans as necessary. This can include specialist training (HART) & Developmental Training SRV Training
  • Prepare and deliver special projects as determined by legislative guidance.
  • Frequently provide documentation, as requested, in preparation for, and in response to, internal and external Quality Assurance verification visits.
  • As directed by the Driver Training Manager, support in the mentorship and development of new staff.
  • Actively encourage and participate in the peer review process, undertaking frequent observations of peer review.
  • Deliver the accredited course by a national awarding body
  • Set exams and exam process for awarding body and internal trust requirements
  • Invigilate exam process by awarding body
  • Develop and create power point presentations, lesson plans and classroom management.
  • Assemble resources to undertake classroom session
