Main duties of the job

South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) has a vacancy for a Pharmacy Support Worker based at our Medicines Distribution Centre in Paddock Wood.

The Pharmacy team at the Medicines Distribution Centre provides essential support to frontline ambulance operations and Pharmacy Support Workers play a key role in providing medicines pouches for use by frontline staff.

The Medicines Distribution Centre operates across two shifts (06.00 - 14.00 and 10.00 - 18.00) and as a Pharmacy Support Worker you will work a fixed shift pattern covering either early or late shifts Monday - Friday - five days per week.

Successful candidates for this role will need to work with a high degree of accuracy and concentration and be able to prioritise their workload in meeting deadlines. You will need a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and enjoy working as part of a small team.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Compliance with the Trusts Medicines Policy and relevantprocedures across the Trust and at Paddock Wood medicines area.
  • Preparation of the Trusts medicines packs according to therequired standard load list, using the Trusts electronic systems formanaging such processes in line with the medicines packingprocess.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and work underpressure with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ensure all medicines being packed are in date and not subjectto a recall.
  • Help to ensure that the Trust is compliant with the legal andstatutory requirements in relation to all matters that pertain tomedicines storage and packing activities.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance of the packing processes andmonitor the quality of services provided.
  • Maintain a near miss log and support in incident investigationin relation to packing processes should the need arise.
  • Contribute to guiding new staff in induction training, and contributeto the development of the team and continued improvement in theMedicines management and governance across the Trust.
  • Ensure continued supply of stocked medicines packs are ready forthe appropriate distribution to operational staff via the Logisticsservice.
  • Contribute to the stock control within the department, includingparticipating in stock-checks, tracing and resolving stockdiscrepancies, being proactive in ensuring that urgently requireddrugs are sourced.
  • Assist the Medicines Distribution Centre Manager, Medicines Lead Paramedic and Chief Pharmacist on all matters relating to medicines
