Job summary

  • An exciting opportunity has arisen within South East Coast Ambulance Service for the position of a qualified driving instructor.
  • The successful applicant will be required to deliver emergency driver training and driver assessments to new entrants and existing members of staff.
  • Please note this vacancy will attract a10% R&R uplift on the offered salary and is eligible for unsocial hours payments (as per Agenda for Change)

Main duties of the job

To deliver specialised accredited advanced emergency response driver training courses, whilst assessing the driving capabilities of all clinical grades, trust wide.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Manage individual the requirements for staff and students in emergency driver training, relating to road traffic law within trust policy
  • Complete the essential training in qualifications needed to develop trainee driving instructors to DVSA Approved Driving Instructor standards, in line with ORDIT guidelines.
  • Complete ongoing CPD
  • To assess, test and evaluate staff whilst delivering emergency response driver training course, as dictated by driving policies.
  • Provide educational driving development and support to staff.
  • Managing the processes of Internal Quality Assurance as set by, the national awarding body.
  • Delivers a variety of accredited qualifications and off road courses.
  • Deliver driving assessments, coaching, teaching evaluation, advice and driving supervision of ALL operational staff and managers,
  • Ensure that experienced supervision and advice are available to operational staff and crews.
  • Facilitate access to driver education, learning and development opportunities for all staff, including specialised sections ie; HART in external qualification programmes.

  • Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievements (or equivalent)
  • Level 3 Ambulance Emergency Driving Qualification
  • Level 4 Ambulance Driving Instructional Qualification (must be registered and working towards nearing competition of qualification, to be finished by January 1st 2022)
  • Approved Driving Instructor part 1 & 2 (DVSA) - Part 3 must be working towards
  • Department and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Registered FLEET Driver Trainer (or working towards)
  • Vocational C1 Classification held on full UK driving license

Desirable

  • Level 5 Coaching and Mentoring Qualification
  • Emergency First Aid at Work
