Main duties of the job
The role
The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the dispatch desk area. Leading and managing a group of Operational Team Leaders (OTLs), they will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of all clinical and non-clinical objectives, reporting to and acting on behalf of the Operating Unit Manager when required.
The Operations Manager will provide clear direction to the Operational Team Leaders to ensure colleagues are supported in delivering high quality patient care within the locality. The post holder will provide visible leadership and work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and safe care is provided.
The role also involves undertaking duty tactical commander shifts across the 24 hour shift pattern.
The Operations Manager is required to hold a Masters degree qualification or have equivalent experience in a relevant discipline of management and required to be a registered Paramedic.
- Lead and develop the dispatch desk leadership team to ensure consistently high levels of performance and engagement
- Oversee local quality assurance activity, ensuring lessons are learned from incidents and patient feedback is acted upon.
- Oversee a range of workstreams including people management, quality assurance, and operational performance
- Undertake the role of Tactical Commander at significant/major incidents and during business as usual, ensuring the delivery of Trust Strategic and Tactical plans.

We deliver our services from over 110 sites including: One regional office at Coxheath and the new Trust HQ at Crawley, West Sussex each which house an Emergency Operations Centre (EOC); two Contact Centres at Dorking and Ashford where 111 calls are received and responded to; Five Make Ready Centres; 45 Ambulance Stations; 59 Ambulance Community Response Posts; two Hazardous Area Response (HART) centres; and two Vehicle Maintenance Centres.
