Polegate and Hastings Operating Unit

The Polegate and Hastings Operating Unit Manager role is at the heart of the operational delivery of the Trust. The manager must take responsibility for all aspects of delivery: staff, clinical and resources; to ensure the highest levels of care are provided to patients and the public within the Operating Unit

This is a large diverse reporting operating unit. You will report to the Associate Director of Ops East and whilst no two weeks are the same, your general hours of work will be Monday - Friday. You will be joining a team of 4 other Operating Unit Managers based in the East of the Trust and 5 other colleagues from the West. Main duties of the job

South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SECAmb) is an ambitious organisation with a commitment to improving and diversifying the services we provide to our local communities.

We are appointing an Operating Unit Manager, ona substantive basis

You will be responsible for the operational management and leadership for the operating Unit You will be an effective managerial leader who will champion the development of colleagues to maximise performance and consistently achieve high standards of delivery.

To succeed in this post, you will need to be an exceptional operations leader who has demonstrable experience of continuous professional development. You will have experience of managing budgets and delivering value for money services.

The role requires individuals to have experience of delivering and improving operational performance with an emphasis on quality, productivity, innovation and efficiency without losing focus on the patient experience.

You will be required to participate in a tactical on-call rota that involves being on-site during the day, night and at weekends.

An assessment date will be held on Thursday 8th August 2023 for shortlisted candidates.

Essential

  • Educated to MSc/MA level in a leadership or business related discipline or equivalent professional experience.

Desirable

  • Hold a BSc in Paramedic Science or Practice
  • HCPC registered paramedic or NMC Clinician

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of leading a graduate calibre clinical workforce - using a transformational and inclusive style
  • Experience of managing large budgets, typically in excess of £10m per annum
  • Experience of incident command i.e. acting as a Silver/Bronze officer
  • Comprehensive experience of translating strategic goals into effective and achievable operational plans, and monitoring progress and outcomes.

Desirable

  • Highly developed knowledge of Operations and the High Performance Model
