Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist

Job summary

The Occupational Therapist (OT) will be responsible for the delivery and review of the occupational therapy services across the Anxiety, Depression, Affective Disorders, Personality Disorders and Trauma (ADAPT) pathway, ensuring the occupational needs of the service users are addressed.

Working closely with the multi-disciplinary team, the postholder will provide specialist occupational assessments and interventions to promote meaningful engagement, independence and social inclusion. This will include delivering group based interventions to support recovery.

You will coordinate care for a small, defined caseload within the ADAPT service. and contribute to step-down planning to support service users' discharge to primary care services. As a clinical specialist OT, the postholder will offer clinical supervision and support service improvement initiatives as required.

Main duties of the job

The post offers the opportunity to develop your clinical leadership skills, by supporting the clinical lead with quality improvement initiatives and clinical leadership roles, You will be expected to develop and review the occupational therapy offer within the ADAPT service, ensuring a clear OT pathway is embedded in the team.

Your clinical role will be embedded in the ADAPT West team where you will be responsible for carrying out skilled assessments and delivering interventions across occupational domains. You will also be required to take on the role of lead healthcare professional for a small group of complex service users.

In applying occupational therapy models you will work from an evidence base and draw upon current developments in Recovery and Social Inclusion. You will need to be committed to a service user focus and creative in finding ways to help people develop and achieve personal goals. You will also contribute to delivering group interventions as required.

You will work alongside OT and multi-disciplinary colleagues, as well as a range of other agencies. You will also be responsible for providing supervision for staff within the team, contributing to the management of the referral system and assisting the team manager with quality improvement and other specific clinical tasks.
