Non-Medical Prescriber in Adult ADHD

Job summary

The Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) in ADHD is a qualified and experienced nurse prescriber who will work autonomously within the Adult ADHD Service, providing specialist clinical assessment, intervention, and medication management for individuals diagnosed with ADHD.

The NMP will play a key role in delivering high-quality care in line with NICE guidelines and current best practices in ADHD management. The post holder will also contribute to service development, clinical leadership, and education within the multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients' mental health, social, and physical needs using recognised ADHD assessment tools.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review personalised care plans, incorporating both evidence-based and person-centred approaches.
  • Provide clinical interventions focused on supporting adult clients with ADHD in managing symptoms, setting goals, and improving daily functioning.
  • Prescribe, titrate and review ADHD medication within scope of practice and supervision concordance.
  • Contribute to psychoeducational groups for patients and carers, covering essential topics such as understanding ADHD, available treatment options, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Support medical staff in delivering information related to medication as part of psychoeducational programmes.
  • Conduct dynamic risk assessments, especially for clients with complex comorbidities or those presenting safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement risk management plans, providing input on clients' needs and concerns.
  • Line manage and supervise junior multidisciplinary staff.
