Subject to the requirements of a particular service area and within the confines of the role, following trust policy/government regulatory guidance and upon successful completion of an approved programme of study and competency
Assessment signed by ward manager for the clinical area, the post-holder will administer routine medications.
a) Exercise professional accountability in ensuring the safe administration of medicines to those receiving care.
b) Reporting, without delay, any safety or security concerns to maintain the safety of service users, carers, staff and others to appropriate authorities and/or organisations.
Understanding, contributing and follow all safeguarding procedures; being aware of the necessity to safeguard and promote the welfare of people at all times
Responding respectfully to concerns / complaints raised by patients, families and carers and escalate in accordance with trust polices.
Maintaining confidential information in accordance with Trust Policies.
Team working and Professional Development
Demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with professionals from different agencies in interdisciplinary teams.
Working in ways that support shared responsibility within the team: demonstrating support, respect and courtesy towards colleagues; working in a professional manner and with Trust values always in mind, respecting the boundaries of the relationship with service users/patients, carers and staff.
Attending and participating in team meetings and contributing ideas to multi-professional team discussions.
Engaging in reflective practice to ensure effective patient care is based on evidence based practice and with Trust values in mind. Attending staff training, meetings, reflective practice groups and activities including the development of reflective portfolio.
Participating in supervision by nominated senior staff member, including annual review of performance as part of the appraisal (or PADR) system.
Supporting the learning of less experienced staff, such as student nurses and trainee nursing associates
Demonstrating own role to others and acting as role model to others at all times in accordance with Trust values providing junior leadership role.
Undertaking mandatory training as required by Trust policy and other CPD training related to the role or area of work. Maintain a relevant work development portfolio and comply with all requirements of NMC revalidation
Contributing to clinical or governance reviews of the teams activity and the monitoring of performance. Contributing to relevant audit, practice development on research activity that may be taking place in the work area.
Ability to fulfil all the requirements of the role (including physical) and if unable to then reasonable adjustments may need to be made either to your role or place of work to ensure safety of self, staff and patients.

General
- To work positively and effectively in a difficult and often hostile environment.
- Be aware of environmental hazards in the working area; ensure staffs are aware of relevant health & safety policies deriving from the Health & Safety at Work Act.
- To work in accordance with Trust policies and guidelines
- To be familiar with Prison Standards, Standing Orders, Circular instructions, Notices to Staff, Health and Safety and all other relevant material to function as an informed practitioner within a prison setting.

5. Custodial Responsibilities - Assume personal responsibility for the security of issued keys.
- Understand and comply with prison orders, procedures and instructions in your area of work.
- Comply with all security requirements.
- Respond to any situation or circumstance that might indicate a threat to security of the establishment or to the safety of an individual, completing Incident, Security, Injury or other reports as appropriate.
- Report breaches of order and discipline including reporting and recording untoward incidents according to local protocol.
- Contribute to effective risk assessment and management procedures
IMPORTANT INFORMATION, PLEASE READ:
All applicants must be willing to undertake National Security Vetting in order to work in a Prison Setting. This will be completed as part of the pre-employment checks through Oxleas and the prison vetting team.
You will need to provide:
Proof of right to work documentation
Proof of ID, needs to include 1 photographic ID
Proof of address documentation
Non-UK passport holders will need to have correct documentation (right to work in the UK) and a Home office Share code.
Address History:
5 years address history will be needed.
Applicants that are not UK Passport holders who provide less than 5 years UK address history will need to provide a Police Certificate which must be in English from where they resided previously.
Applicants who are UK Passport holders who have lived abroad for a period of more than six months during the last three years will need to provide a certificate of good conduct or an overseas police check in English from the countries resided in or visited.
