Job summary
The Bexley Intensive Case Management for Psychosis (ICMP) team provides time limited secondary mental health care support to individuals who are struggling to manage their mental health condition such as Psychosis and Bipolar Affective disorders.
As part of the OT team you will support service user's to to develop the functional skills needed to be able to engage in the daily meaningful activities they need and want to do which they may have stopped doing whilst unwell. Supporting access and engagement in mainstream activities, to support service users in managing their own mental health is an essential part of the role.
The Occupational Therapist will be expected to complete initial occupational and functional assessments, care planning, outcome measurements, reviews and discharge planning.
Main duties of the job
- To manage a clinical caseload
- To work as a member of the MDT
- To support the development of evidence-based OT practice
- To provide OT specific assessment & interventions via groups & individual work related to: self-care, work and leisure
- To contribute to service development
- To work independently without direct supervision
- To develop skills, knowledge, and experience through participation in preceptorship and the Band 5 development programme

The appointed Occupational Therapist will be working within the Bexley Intensive Case Management for Psychosis (ICMP) team based at the Erith centre. We provide time limited secondary mental health care support to individuals who are struggling to manage their mental health condition such as Psychosis and Bipolar Affective disorders.
The current OT team within Bexley ICMP includes a Band 7 Occupational Therapist, who will be available to provide informal support as well as formal supervision, including preceptorship support. There is also support from Occupational Therapy support workers and peer support staff who work across the locality, and who meet regularly for service development and CPD.
The role of the OT within the team is to support service users to be able to develop the performance skills needed to be able to engage in the daily meaningful activities they need and want to do which they may have stopped doing whilst unwell.
