Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Greenwich based Community Mental Health Rehabilitation & Enablement service (CMHRES).

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative professional who has experience of working with individuals with mental health problems and fully understands the rehabilitation, enablement and recovery models of evidence based clinical practice.

This team focuses on the rehabilitation needs of service users who have complex mental health issues and require intensive support to promote social inclusion and facilitate greater independence.

This service aims to enable Service Users to develop the right skills to improve their quality of life through independent living and effective management of their mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job

The postholder should have an in-depth knowledge of OT interventions for the client group and have an interest in developing evidenced based OT practice and establishing standards of practice. You will also contribute to the planning, development and ongoing evaluation of OT services and take a supervisory role with junior support staff within the team with a focus on their professional development and skill enhancement.

Excellent communication skills will be imperative. It will be essential to have good organisational skills and be responsible for a defined caseload of service users who have complex mental health and rehabilitation needs in addition to providing a specific OT service, offering assessment, intervention and advice to the multi-disciplinary team. Effective and efficient liaison with other teams and agencies will be vital to ensure collaborative working for the benefit of service users.

The main aim of the Team is to focus on rehabilitation, engagement, relapse prevention and enablement to optimise the service users' ability to live independently and enjoy a good quality of life.

You will work alongside OT and multi-disciplinary colleagues, as well as working with a range of other agencies. The Oxleas Occupational Therapy Service is committed to the continuing professional development (CPD) of its staff. A well-developed supervision structure, CPD activities, and a variety of training opportunities underpin this.
