Job summary

The post-holder will be expected to change, diagnose and fix problems with a wide range of reporting products; chiefly SQL Scripts and SSRS Reports.

They will work closely with other teams within Data Services to ensure that such changes are communicated effectively and do not impact on the day to day business.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the Performance and Information Manager.
  • Support, apply technical fixes to and change Data Services reporting products, such as dashboards and database SQL scripts.
  • Play a key role in advising on development processes.
  • Look after the development and testing lifecycle of systems changes.
  • Production of detailed technical documentation.
  • Execution of other duties appropriate to the skills and experience of the post holder which may be identified by the manager.
  • Take a proactive approach to developing own skills and experience.
  • Work autonomously within professional and NHS guidelines, interpreting and acting on this interpretation as appropriate.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Develop new and maintain existing bespoke ETL packages and applications.
  • Advise on the software requirements for application development, and implement new software as required.
  • Follow an appropriate development model when working on projects.
  • Design and build systems in adherence with the Software Development Life Cycle making use of the Teams development, testing and live environment and deployment process.
  • Work with Business Analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements for new applications.
  • Create mock-ups, wireframes, and UML (Unified Modelling Language) diagrams that help visualise and construct new systems to assist in designing and explaining systems, data flows etc.
  • Produce high standard technical and user documentation.
  • Fix issues and bugs in products in the production environment
  • Take responsibility for the development and testing lifecycle of systems changes.
  • Play a key role in the development of the Trust's data warehouse.
  • Ensure that all reports produced meet quality control requirements and are delivered on time.
