Consultant Mental Health Nurse, Band 8c Permanent - Full Time - 37.5 hours per week
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and forward-thinking Consultant Nurse who is an Approved Clinician.
We are looking for a Multi-professional Approved Clinician (MPACs) to work within our inpatient services. Main duties of the job
The main function of the job is to support and lead the clinical model at Barefoot Lodge, in an established nurse led team including acting as the Approved / Responsible Clinician, overseeing the clinical care.
Barefoot Lodge is a nurse led 15 bedded, mixed gender Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, based at Goldie Leigh Hospital site. The principal aim is to provide assessment, intervention and rehabilitation for men and women who require intensive inpatient rehabilitation so that they can sustain a meaningful life in the community. The nurse led model incorporates empowering, collaborative working alongside service users and families, including addressing inequalities, rehabilitative and therapeutic interventions.
With your service user at the centre you and the team will maintain a positive approach, where you work holistically with the person by providing choice, promoting independence, increasing life skills, taking positive risk, social inclusion and provide psycho social interventions.
Barefoot Lodge is part of the South London Partnership Complex care workstream. This provides opportunities for networking with similar rehabilitation services, shared learning and creative ways of working more collaboratively across South London.

The Post holder will use expert knowledge to provide professional and visible leadership and support and effect the systematic clinical development of other nurses in the specialist area. Provide expert knowledge and consultancy to other disciplines and professional groups and work across the clinical pathway to develop strategic direction, clinical practice and education and training initiatives.
The post holder as an Approved Clinician, will be the clinical lead for all the patients admitted to the unit, taking the lead role in all aspects of their care for the duration of their admission. To act as Responsible Clinician for patients taking overall clinical and legal responsibility for patients detained under the Mental Health Act and demonstrate associated expertise in the assessment, treatment and management of mentally disordered patients. This will include clinical leadership within themultidisciplinary team and joint work with colleagues from other disciplines in the provision of high-quality clinical care.
Function as a key individual in supporting and developing services and leading and influencing organisational initiatives related to the specialist area. These would be community and inpatient rehabilitation services.To provide expert specialist treatment interventions to complex patient group with enhanced assessment, care and treatment needs. Working across inpatient rehabilitation-based services within Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and Community Rehabilitation Services.
They will additionally support the wider Transforming Rehabilitation agenda working alongside the Clinical director, the CCG and SouthLondon Partnership (SLP). The post holder will also have a specific focus upon Quality, Safety and Efficiency.
The post holder is also expected to act as an ambassador for the organisation and promote its work through presenting and publishing. The post holder will also lead on the development of Non-Medical Prescribing and strategic projects. They will work with the Consultant Psychiatrist and other team members, they will link with GPs, primary care practitioners, community matrons, pharmacists and statutory and voluntary agencies within their prescribing role.
The role will consist of 60% direct clinical involvement and 30% service improvement and development including audit, research and innovation work.
