Job summary
We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled, innovative and experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to provide clinical and professional leadership to one of our community mental health teams in Beckenham (ADAPT - our secondary care, multi-disciplinary team working with Anxiety, Depression, Personality and Trauma).
The post holder will take a local lead role in managing the provision of psychological therapy in the team and join the team manager, clinical lead nurse and consultant psychiatrist comprising the senior clinical team and providing clinical leadership in the locality for the non-psychosis psychology pathway.
Currently ADAPT provides an established MBT program, EMDR, psychodynamic psychotherapy, MBCT as well as a range of integrative and other formulation based approaches. An SCM program is currently being developed and the post holder will take a lead role in supporting implementation and MDT facilitation of the program. There is also provision for art psychotherapy and systemic family therapy in the team. The psychology provision is embedded in the MDT environment and co-working and dissemination of psychological approaches is actively encouraged.
Main duties of the job
A central aim of the post will be taking an operational leadership role in further developing the role and remit of psychological therapy in the service. This would encompass management of referral screening as well as waiting list management, supervision and consultation to the wider team. Service development and innovation are embraced and 3rd sector working, psychologically informed group programs, training and working across service transitions would all form aspects of the leadership part of the role. This would be done in conjunction with the Bromley lead psychologist for acute & ADAPT psychology as well as the local senior management team.
The post will also ensure clinical time for the provision of highly specialised psychological therapy and assessments. Specialist training in a particular modality will be essential eg MBT, EMDR, schema therapy, CBT, CFT or psychodynamic approaches. Individual and group approaches will be welcomed and supported.
The ADAPT-W psychology team is comprised of an Assistant psychologist, band 7's, and 8a's, an art psychotherapist and a borough wide consultant psychologist. Doctoral trainee and honorary placement provision is encouraged. Supervision of local psychology team and yearly appraisals (PDR) will also form some of the operational tasks of the post.
