Job summary
To lead and supervise the Emotional well-being (EWB) Peer mentor scheme at HMP Swaleside & Stanford Hill Prisons. The aim of the scheme is to promote positive emotional well-being through the use of supervised and trained peer mentors. The EWB scheme is a scheme that actively works with prison inmates as peer workers. The scheme works alongside prisoners who show an aptitude and motivation for working to support other prisoners within the prisons. Additionally, the post holder will responsible for the autonomous provision of counselling interventions within a psychological therapy service for service users in prison experiencing a range of mental health problems, working to NICE guidelines for Depression, OCD, PTSD, Anxiety and other mental health problems, using a stepped-care model. To communicate outcomes and suggestions for alternative care back to GP's, mental health and criminal justice professionals. This work to be undertaken in line with the policies and procedures and service standards of Oxleas NHS Trust.
Main duties of the job
To oversee the EWB caseload of service users with complex mental health needs.
To work with service users to identify goals as part of the multi-disciplinary care plan, using specialist mental health assessment tools & treatment techniques.
To work with service user peer workers and junior staff to deliver appropriate groups and interventions to the Emotional Well-Being Scheme.
To plan, co-ordinate & implement service user led individual and group interventions, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.
To plan, co-ordinate and oversee the running of the Emotional Well-Being Scheme within prisons in which the scheme operates.
