Job summary

Oxleas Forensic & Prisons Directorate provides a range of services to offenders across Kent and South East London. We have an excellent reputation for the delivery of high-quality services to mentally ill, personality disordered, challenging behaviour offenders and patients within the primary care setting.

Oxleas has provided health services to prisons for many years, which includes the provision of integrated primary care services to both HMPYOI Isis

We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced registered nurses, preferably with experience of working in prisons or secure settings although this is not essential. The post is based at HMP Isis as part of our Integrated Primary Care Service to Greenwich prisons.

The successful candidates will demonstrate drive, commitment and enthusiasm for the delivery of quality healthcare for both adult and young offenders, together with a proven ability to exercise a degree of personal and professional autonomy, make complex and critical judgments and demonstrate decision making skills to satisfy the expectations of the role.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to support senior staff to develop a clinically effective patient centred primary healthcare service which will include acute & crisis care, primary care interventions, substance misuse, screening programmes, long term conditions management and health promotion activities in line with national guidance and best practice.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate robust clinical leadership to junior staff who possess a sound understanding of evidence-based nursing practice and a pro-active approach to ensure quality and outcome driven practice

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the ability to work in a challenging and multi-agency environment, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of nursing, medical, discipline staff and a range of allied health professionals such as dentistry, optometry, physiotherapy and podiatry.

Oxleas has a strong track record in recruiting, training and supporting staff within their Prison and forensic services, and the post-holder would be supported and encouraged to participate in relevant clinical training and existing support systems.
