Bexley CAMHS are pleased to be able to offer a 1year fixed term 0.5 wte Clinical/Counselling Psychology (CP) post at band 8a. We are currently in the process of aligning with the i-Thrive framework to ensure timely, needs based interventions for CYP of Bexley. The postholder would provide interventions across the 'Getting Help' and 'Getting More Help' areas.
As a CP in Bexley CAMHS you will have a balanced job plan which meets the needs of the service and your own developmental needs/interests (including contributing to initial assessment clinics, robustly supported through post assessment multi-disciplinary case discussions). Additionally, you will provide formulation driven, evidence based psychological therapies. There will also be care coordination with the family and professional network. You will contribute psychological thinking to the service and supervise band 7 CPs, trainees and other professionals. You will be encouraged to develop/lead on creative service development initiatives.
The post will have a component (approximately 1 day per week) providing consultations to local mainstream primary/secondary schools, and training/liaison with schools/wider network.
Main duties of the job
To provide a highly specialist clinical psychology service to clients of the CAMH service providing highly specialist psychological assessment, intervention and treatment.
Supervising trainee clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists and qualified clinical psychologists, offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to non- psychologist colleagues and to other non-professional carers.
Working autonomously within professional guidelines and within the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures. Utilising research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.

Key tasks and responsibilities
Clinical:1. To provide highly specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the clients care.2. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a clients mental health problems and other relevant issues, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.3. To be responsible for implementing a range of highly specialist psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.4. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning Clinical Psychologist historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.5. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment,treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically-based standard care plans.6. To provide highly specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.7. To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically-based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies.8. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.9. To act as care coordinator, where appropriate, taking responsibility for initiating planning and review of care plans under enhanced CPA including clients, their carers, referring agents and others involved the network of care.10. To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of both uni- and multi-disciplinary care.
Teaching, training, and supervision1. To provide clinical placements, as the lead clinical supervisor, for trainee clinical psychologists ensuring the trainees acquire the necessary skills, competencies and experience to contribute effectively to health care, and to contribute to the assessment and evaluation of such competencies.2. To provide clinical supervision and professional guidance to qualified psychologists.3. To receive regular clinical professional supervision from a senior clinicalpsychologist and, where appropriate, other senior professional colleagues.4. To continue to gain wider post-qualification experience of clinical psychology over and above that provided within the principal service area where the post-holder is employed.5. To develop skills in the area of professional post-graduate teaching, training and supervision and to provide supervision to other MDT staffs psychological work, as appropriate.6.
