We are looking for an enthusiastic Therapist to come and join our well respected and innovative Adult Learning Disability (ALD) Directorate Physiotherapy service. Physiotherapists play an essential role within a multi-agency Community ALD team and contribute to several clinical pathways delivering high quality care to people with learning disabilities and their carers.
You will work as part of the Bexley multi-disciplinary Community Learning Disability Team. You will be supported with a caseload of adults with varying degrees of learning disability, some of whom have complex physical needs as well as Autistic Spectrum Disorder, mental health difficulties and/or challenging behaviour. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary team colleagues including Nursing, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy and Psychiatry. The team is based at Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup. Hydrotherapy pool is at Goldie Leigh. The Bexley team is co-located with the Bromley LDT, providing opportunities for skill sharing and learning. We have a strong focus on CPD and you will be supported to continue your professional development.

Main duties of the job
Provide a high standard Physiotherapy service
Carry out specialist Physiotherapy assessment of learning disabled clients with diverse and complex presentations of physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme including hydrotherapy, falls prevention and 24 hour posture management.
Work with service users, carers and families and other partners to provide intervention and education to achieve Physiotherapy aims and goals
Be responsible for own case load, working with and without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training, clinical reasoning sessions and peer review and case conferences. Access to advice and support from a senior Physiotherapist is available if required
Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner
Liaise effectively with other disciplines, working as part of the multi-disciplinary Learning Disability health team
Assist in the supervision, education and assessment of the performance of Physiotherapy Assistant and Physiotherapy students when required
Undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and teams' clinical practice
Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager of service for changes to practice by the team
May assist the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols
Maintain records and provide professional and data reports about the service as required
