Job summary

This is an exciting and rare opportunity to work as a Band 7 in Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust's well respected Adult Learning Disability Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) service. This is an ideal opportunity if you are wanting to develop your staff management and leadership skills alongside your highly specialist clinical skills. If you have significant experience in the field of Adult Learning Disability, including specialist dysphagia skills, we would welcome your application. The current post holder will be available to provide some remote advise and support in the successful candidates first few months.

Speech and Language Therapists play a valued role within each of the Borough's multi-disciplinary community learning disability teams by leading or contributing to a number of clinical pathways. Therapists receive referrals on behalf of/from Adults with Learning Disabilities living across a variety of community settings in their local borough.

We meet monthly as a Directorate SaLT Team for CPD sessions, which you may be involved in leading. If you have a particular clinical speciality or interest, you will be supported to further develop your knowledge and skills in this area. Therapists also contribute to some Trust wide projects.

This post is advertised as 37.5 hours, but consideration will be given to applicants who would prefer less hours.

Main duties of the job

  • You would be working as the most senior Speech and Language Therapist in Greenwich's Integrated Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT) with clinical support from the Trust's Professional Lead for ALD/MH Speech and Language Therapy and line management support from the CLDT Manager.
  • You will be clinically supervising and managing Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists and a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapy Co-worker.
  • You will oversee SaLT student placements in the Greenwich team and working with colleagues to provide learning opportunities for all the SaLT students in the Directorate.
  • You may take the lead for service wide development projects and events
