Job summary

We invite applications for a Senior Specialist Doctor to join Oxleas' Bexley Community Health Services Community Paediatric medical team aiming to deliver a high quality, community child health service to children and families. The vacancy has arisen as the result of an expansion of services, required to provide additional Leadership input for the management of neuro disability cases and autism assessments. The post holder should have a special interest in Neurodisability & Autism Assessments.

Much of our work is multi-disciplinary and inter-agency in nature. Effective liaison and working relations with other key agencies are essential: in particular, with Bexley Education and Social Care, and with primary care and hospital paediatric colleagues. The post holder must be up to date in clinical paediatrics and organisational developments affecting child health and its interfaces.

Main duties of the job

The broad responsibilities of the post are:

  • Specialist secondary community paediatric assessments
  • Behavioral Paediatrics
  • Safeguarding Medical assessments
  • Looked After Child assessments
  • Assessments for Special Educational Needs
  • Medical reviews and management of children with neurodisabilities in Developmental clinics or special schools
  • Independent Autism and ADHD assessment & management
