Job summary
QVH are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Glaucoma Fellow to start in September 2026. The primary objective of the fellowship is to provide the fellow with exposure to and hands on training with the most advanced and complex glaucoma and anterior segment surgical problems. Surgical approaches are performed with the latest devices, technology, and techniques. Due to the high level of complex tertiary level surgical procedures, incoming fellows are expected to be proficient with routine phacoemulsification, and possess adequate surgical experience with such cases.Prior experience with glaucoma filtering surgery, glaucoma drainage devices and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) is preferable. The unit is active in clinical research and the fellow will be involved in these trials and have the opportunity to undertake their own further research. It is anticipated by the end of the fellowship the fellow will be able to take on a Consultant post and comfortable managing complex glaucoma and anterior segment conditions

Applications are invited for Glaucoma Fellow for a twelve-month fixed term post. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Ophthalmologists to broaden their training in modern techniques in Glaucoma surgery.
The Queen Victoria Hospital is a specialist hospital for Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Plastic Surgery and Burns.The postholder will be part of the senior clinical team with a priority on the delivery of the service. Whilst you will take responsibility for your own training and development, the Trust will offer you opportunities to further your knowledge and skills and you will be assigned an Educational Supervisor. You will work in accordance with the GMC Good Medical Practice and Trust policies and engage in revalidation and appraisal.Applicants should have completed their specialty training in Ophthalmology and fulfil all the competencies of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Specialty Training Curriculum in this respect.
