Job summary

We are looking to recruit to our dental nursing team and have an exciting opportunity for registered dental nurses to work within the Maxillofacial department clinic based at Maidstone Hospital and the QVH in East Grinstead where we see patients referred from dental practices, Head & Neck Cancers and undertake minor oral surgery.

Although the role is at 2 sites. The primary location will be at Maidstone hospital. The service we provide at Maidstone is delivered by doctors, dentists and nursing staff employed by the QVH Hospital and serves patients from the Maidstone area. Main duties of the job

Be responsible for the well-being of patients undergoing treatment in the unit.

Receive and prepare patients for treatment, maintaining privacy and dignity for all patient whilst adhering to Trust and departmental policies, reporting any difficulties with these duties to senior staff.

Assist with the smooth running of Oral surgery and consultation clinics.

Take X Rays as required.

Ensure all documentation is completed i.e. consent forms,coding forms etc. Using effective communication both written, verbal and non- verbal with all levels of staff including the multidisciplinary team, patients and relatives to ensure care is delivered in a consistent and appropriate way.Monitors all patient care and treatment maintaining high standards and quality at all times, demonstrating empathy and understanding of the patient, relatives/ carer.

Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous and legible written records of care and treatment.Work on own initiative in the Maxillofacial clinics at Maidstone and be able to prioritise nursing care, recognise deterioration in a patient's condition and alert senior staff immediately.Adheres to the agreed procedures as identified, and promotes by example, a high standard of good quality nursing care in the department.Assist with provision and prepare clinical equipment and materials for daily use in the maxillofacial clinics. This will include the assembly of high-speed hand pieces, monitors, diagnostic scopes and other instruments.
