The Sleep Disorder Centre is part of the Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. It is a very busy department, treating patients with a variety of sleep disorders including sleep apnoea, insomnia and parasomnia. It is an interesting and increasingly popular speciality which is expanding rapidly.

We have an excellent opportunity for a self motivated independent and resourceful individual to join the team in the provision of co-ordination and administration of patients outpatient appointments and admissions both on Reception and on the telephone. This is an interesting and varied role involving extensive patient contact. Reporting to the Service Co-ordinator and working closely with the Consultants, Sleep Physiologists, Medical Secretaries and Administrators in order to ensure the delivery of this high quality service within NHS targets.

We are looking for an experienced Administrator ideally with a clinical or customer service focused background who would be able to work both within a busy team and on their own initiative where required. They must be able to remain calm, prioritise their own workload, possess excellent communication skills combined with an excellent telephone manner and a flexible and pro-active attitude.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is required to provide administrative and front line reception and telephone duties. This will involve scheduling and co-ordinating patient admissions and clinic appointments and dealing with patient queries. In addition, training will be given in assisting the diagnostic team who issue and record the flow of diagnostic devices. Working as part of a team, including clinical staff, the post holder is expected to deliver a responsible and high quality service to patients and to support within the department.
