Job description

Job responsibilities

The Outpatient Department is part of the Cancer and Core Clinical Services at Medway Maritime Hospital. An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join as one of our Porters for Outpatients at Medway Maritime Hospital.

The main responsibilities are:

To transport patient records between the Outpatient areas to various departments across the Trust

To transport empty and loaded cages between departments

To assist Health Records and the prepping team to load patient records onto shelves in Patient Service Centre and to label the shelves with correct clinic details

To safely transfer Formal Saline to the Outpatient Department following the SOP Guideline and the safe transfer of Biopsies Samples within the Formal Saline from the Outpatient Department to Pathology following the SOP Guideline

Delivery and collection of clinical & non clinical items, including linen both clean and dirty

To undertake any duties appropriate to the grade as requested by the Outpatient Service Coordinator, Service Manager or Senior Nursing team to facilitate the smooth running of the department

To attend staff meetings and any others that are required
