Main duties of the job
The purpose of this job is to provide clinical leadership to the pharmacy clinical services team and to be a senior leader within the department to ensure the delivery of exceptional clinical pharmacy services, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. With a focus on continuous improvement and innovation, this role requires strategic leadership, mentorship and collaboration across the Trust and wider system to optimise medicines management and enhance patient outcomes.

Leadership and Management Lead and manage the clinical pharmacy team, providing guidance, mentorship and support to foster a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Clinical oversight Provide professional oversight of clinical pharmacy services across all wards, clinics and departments, ensuring the safe, effective and cost-efficient use of medicines.
Clinical Practice To develop an area of clinical expertise and provide a regular clinical commitment, working as an independent prescriber in a specialist area of practice.
Strategic development Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance clinical pharmacy services, aligning with organisational objectives and national guidelines
Education and Training Lead the education and training of clinical pharmacy staff, ensuring continuous professional development and adherence to best practices.
Collaboration and Integration Collaborate with senior medical, nursing and managerial staff to improvement medicines management process and integrate pharmacy services across the healthcare system
Research and innovation Drive research and innovation in clinical pharmacy practice, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and best practices in the field

Essential
- Master's degree in pharmacy or equivalent
- Professional Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
Desirable
- Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice
Knowledge
Essential
- Advanced level knowledge of clinical pharmacy and an ability to apply abstract and sometimes contradictory data to practice
- Knowledge of the requirements of national organisations involved in clinical pharmacy e.g. DoH, RPS, UKCPA.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and legislation
Experience

- Significant experience of performing and supervising projects.
- Experience of working with senior healthcare professionals outside of pharmacy to achieve cross -Trust developments.
