Main duties of the job
This post if for Specialty Doctor in Paediatrics with Special Interest in Haematology and Oncology - Full time 10PAs a Week.
A normal working week would include 3 days (Monday - Wednesday) in General Paediatrics and 2 days (Thursday - Friday) in Haematology and Oncology. As you gain experience, you will be overseeing the care of Haematology and Oncology patients that present to Acute Paediatric Ward in the week. You will be working closely with Dr Ben-Ramadan, Consultant Paediatrician and the rest of the MDT.
You have the opportunity to participate in the oncall rota for General Paediatrics to gain up to 2PAs.
Applicants must have a minimum of 4 years experience in General Paediatrics.

1. To participate in paediatric haematology and oncology clinics, work closely with multidisciplinary team and assist with assessment before chemotherapy and other administrative work to run a smooth service.
2. To provide acute general paediatric cover to in-patient and out-patient services (without need for neonatal service cover.)
3. By arrangement to cover colleagues during periods of annual and study leave.
4. Administrative duties specific to the role associated with the care of the patients and the running of the clinical department (including discharge paperwork.)
5. Participate actively in quality improvement activity/ clinical audit and implement its results.
6. The post-holder will undertake, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in emergency and unforeseen circumstances as are essential for continuity of patient care.
7. Abiding by the clinical and corporation governance policies of the Trust

- Medical Degree (MBBS or Equivalent)
- Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
- Shall have completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training, at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty, or have equivalent experience.
Desirable
- MRCPCH or alternative foreign degree
Knowledge
Essential
- Awareness of NHS processes.
- Awareness of current Governance and Management processes; in particular understanding of safety reporting, investigations, quality improvement methodology and implementation.
- Awareness of morbidity and mortality issues; our department has twice monthly review meetings to maintain excellent clinical standards, provide team support and feedback, and to fulfil both local and national reporting mechanisms.

- 4 Years of Experience in General Paediatrics
- BLS Certification
- APLS/ EPALS Certification - can be obtained within 2 months of being in post.
