This is an exciting opportunity for a midwife to gain experience in research delivery as part of the Medway Research and Innovation team.If you are looking for a change and value research this is the perfect chance to learn how research is designed, delivered and impacts on practice.

Research and Innovation leads to better care and outcomes for all, thus the shared vision within the Research and Innovation department at Medway NHS Foundation Trust is to embed research into clinical practice and empower clinical staff to lead improvements and inspire healthcare change. We aim to increase access to research opportunities for services users and we strive to achieve a balanced, varied, inclusive and service user driven research portfolio.

We are looking for a experienced midwife who will be able to bring expert knowledge of the clinical area to help streamline research in to current practice and bring creative ideas for service user and maternity staff engagement with research.

We are offering a part time 12 month secondment to a qualified midwife with at least 1 years experience to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

Study set up and delivery of maternity studies.

Work as part of a team.

Access feasibility of maternity related studies, establish stakeholder engagement and take responsibility for study specific clinical staff support and training

To identify eligible participants for research studies

Confidently and knowledgably explain and discuss research studies to potential participants, their relatives and other healthcare professionals

Strive to ensure that research is inclusive and research participation is accessible to all those that's are eligible.

To ensure the safety and the wellbeing of research participants during their time in the trial and following,

Take responsibility for all areas of practice relating to the conduct of clinical trials and research studies

Be meticulous in regards to the accuracy of data collection and recording.

Resolve issues, any breaches and protocol deviations. Report Adverse Events.

Support the Research and Innovation department vision to create a positive research culture and support.

Ensure that training pertinent to the role, including mandatory training e.g. GCP, informed consent etc. is up to date. Attend training to maintain skills as required

Be flexible in approach to work as the role may require flexibility

This will require a methodical and structured approach with attention to detail and accuracy. However, part of this role will be in research promotion and engagement, which will require creativity and innovation. We are always exploring ways of inspiring and empowering clinical staff to play an active role in research with the aim of embedding research in to clinical practice. Therefore this role can be really diverse and we are looking for someone who is adaptable.

The role is mainly office based and a good level of IT skills is essential.
