This is an exciting time to join our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) as we increase the numbers of patients attending the service with the introduction of the GP Assessment Unit (GPAU).
We work closely with the Emergency Department, streaming patients from the Urgent Care Centre, ED triage and Meddoc, as well as those who are referred in by their own GPs.
Main duties of the job
The department provides medical service for patients who requires same day emergency care and GP expected assessment. The department provides same day emergency care to patients presenting to hospital with relevant conditions/pathways.
These patients are rapidly assessed, diagnosed, treated and followed up without being admitted to a hospital ward, if clinically safe to do so. GP Assessment Unit see all the GP expected patients, treated, discharged or admitted depending on the medical need of the patient.
Within this role we will offer you the opportunity to undertake our fantastic Preceptorship Programme. This programme has been designed to support you through training to progress to you to a Band 6 within the Unplanned & Integrated Care Directorate.
