This is an exciting General Manager post managing a portfolio of services within the Cancer and Core Clinical Services Division at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. The Care Group covers services including Cancer and Access (including outpatients) and includes close working with partner colleagues from the ICB, Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance, Macmillan and more.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a driven and ambitious individual to support us in our continuing improvement journey. You will be motivated and a personable leader, with a passion for improving patient experience.
You will be responsible for ensuring daily processes are in place to identify early any risks to achievement of strategic and operational objectives and oversee the development of any detailed recovery plans for any areas that require further support as well as liaising with other leaders internally and externally to share best practice.
You will ensure that all national and locally agreed targets are understood and met including the 28 and 62 days cancer targets and RTT targets, as well as meeting internal targets such as responding to formal complaints within target days and ensure that information, reporting arrangements and assurance mechanisms are continuously improved to support the delivery of efficient and effective systems to achieve and maintain the quality and safety of care for patients.

The General Manager will be accountable for a range of services across the programme, working alongside the Medical Clinical Directors and Heads of Nursing , ensuring high quality, flexible and responsive service delivery and to plan, develop, coordinate and evaluate the clinical and non-clinical services provided.
The General Managerwill be responsible for devising robust plans which look to sustain achievement of the constitutional (operational) and financial standards, as well as regularly reviewing these to ensure that plans are effective.
The role will also support aspects of clinical governance compliance and assurance related to the care group, ensuring safe and effective use of all resources.
Support the Divisional Director of Operations to deliver the annual capacity and business planning process for the care group; this may include delegated responsibility for business cases which have been identified as required to strengthen or develop the service areas you are responsible for.
Manage and coordinate the day to day operational flow of wards in conjunction with senior nurses and support services with the aim of ensuring every patient has a green day as part of the SAFER patient flow bundle.
Ensure strong financial service performance against plans through identification of problems at an early stage and the initiation of corrective action.
