We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our small and friendly hepatology team in the role as fibroscan technician. This is a new role to the trust as part of our expanding service. The successful candidate will need to have 2yrs experience at band 2 or equivalent and be willing to undertake appropriate training. The post is funded for 12 months fixed term.
The post holder will work effectively with the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the speciality
Undertakes fibroscans to a high standard and in accordance with national standard operating procedures
To provide high quality patient focused care
To work in accordance with Trust policies and procedures and operate within the boundaries of the role and sphere of assessed competencies
To maintain standards of work and care through regular updating
The role may include off site fibroscan clinics. Travel arrangements can be organised by the trust.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for fibroscanning patients referred by members of the Hepatology/ gastro team and our community partners.
Have a basic knowledge of liver pathology
To undertake all clinical procedures in accordance with Trust policies and ensure that these procedures and policies are understood and adhered to.
To work professionally at all times; preparation of equipment and undertake fibroscan in a safe environment
To be responsible for arranging calibration of fibroscan when required.
To communicate effectively with patients and significant others with empathy and reassurance regarding; assessment, explanation and to obtain verbal consent.
To maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records using appropriate documentation.
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to promote good communication and a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care within the service.

Our team is small and friendly, comprising of one consultant, one speciality Dr, three specialist nurses and our pathway coordinators. we are a highly enthusiastic and dedicated team that puts are patients needs at the heart of our service.
We are currently undergoing our liver accreditation process, as a result our service is developing to meet these requirements.

Participate in audit and the implementation of new initiatives.
To be responsible for maintaining confidentiality and ensuring the safekeeping of patient records.
To be responsible for reporting incidents and potential risks to the Lead nurse/divisional clinical lead.
Attend mandatory training and participate in continuing development and
