Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will be expected to ensure that patients' receive high quality clinical care and a good patient experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines.

You will play a crucial role in our multi-disciplinary team that works to support the Medway patients in their preoperative pathway. You willcommunicate with patients to offer support, advice in preparation for their upcoming surgery.

You will be supported to undertake Safersleep assessments and the National Standards of preassessment to ensure our patients are prepared psychologically and physically for theatre.

Essential

  • RN1/RN2/RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register

Knowledge

Essential

  • Sound knowledge of the National Service Framework and NICE guidelines and application of such within the Pre assessment setting
  • Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues

Experience

Essential

  • Pre assessing of simple and complex patients for all elective surgery
  • Surgical / medical ward experience

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to administer prescribed medication including transfusion of blood and blood products
  • Able to manage difficult situations
