Main duties of the job
The appointees, will be required to contribute to the general workload of the department. The posts are whole time 10 PA Family-friendly and part-time working can be considered.

We are recruiting for a Locum Consultant in Metabolic Bone who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.The metabolic bone unit is well established at Medway Maritime Hospital, providing service for the surrounding district of the Medway Towns (Rochester, Chatham and Gillingham) and Swale, covering a population of 370,000.
The clinical work is undertaken between Dr Acosta and Dr Wijesooriya with a specialist nurse Collette Anderson running the osteoporosis unit and contributing to clinics. The main focus is Osteoporosis with a smaller number of patients with less common bone disorders. The work consists of outpatients with currently 5 clinics running per week at Medway. A new Hologic Discovery A scanner has recently been installed and around 5000 DEXA scans are undertaken within the osteoporosis unit as well as intravenous bisphosphonate therapy and Denosumab treatments.
The postholder would be expected to contribute to metabolic bone clinics and to learn DEXA reporting. There is ample scope for audit and research, there is also opportunity to present at scientific meetings.

- Full GMC Registration as a Specialist, preferably in Rheumatology
- CCST/CCT/CESR or equivalent in (or will obtain within 6 months of interview date)
- IELTS (Academic) level 7.5, or graduate of a Medical School in UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, USA or Canada.
