Main duties of the job

We are a busy District General Hospital (DGH) serving the population of Medway and Swale and Medway was the first Trust in Kentto achieve foundation trust status in April 2008. Our children's emergency department has an annual attendance of over 30,000 babies, children and young people living locally.

The successful post holder will be expected to have an interest in caring for newborns and a drive to develop skills in the speciality of neonatology. The expectation will be that you proceed eventually to undertake the specialist training programme to enable you to care for those babies who require intensive care.

The post holder will take part in promoting Family Integrated Care and make sure that this is practiced at all times.

The post holder will be supported by Clinical Nurse Educator, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners and Governance managers, together with a friendly multidisciplinary team and a corporate training and development team. We have in house leadership programmes and work with a range of universities to ensure you can progress through academic pathways in order to support your career development.

Responsible for carrying out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high quality, current evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, implementation, interventions and evaluations for patients is provided from admission through to discharge

Will be responsible for the application of knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical experience
