Job summary

The Psychiatric Clinical Decisions Unit (PCDU), located within the Peter Hodgkinson Centre at Lincoln County Hospital, provides a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals experiencing acute psychiatric crises. Designed to accommodate up to six service users for a maximum of 24 -48 hours, the unit enables thorough multidisciplinary assessments--including psychological, psychosocial, risk, and pharmacological evaluations--to inform personalised care plans and determine the most appropriate treatment pathway, often community-based, to support robust recovery.

The Health Based Place of Safety provides a health run facility for service users who have been detained under section 136 of the Mental Health Act.

Main duties of the job

You will hold 24-hour responsibility for the clinical care delivered within the unit. This role involves coordinating staffing, supervising clinical practice, ensuring training compliance, and maintaining cost-effective resource use, while also ensuring that admissions are purposeful and aligned with service user needs.

  • Degree/diploma in mental health and social care or equivalent: 1st Level Registration (NMC,HPC)
  • Evidence of specialised continued professional training (degree level) in clinical practice

Desirable

  • Post Graduate Certificate in Leadership
  • Masters Degree

  • Prioritisation and resource allocation, planning and organisation skills
  • Able to communicate complex and at times highly sensitive information to a variety to stakeholders
  • Good negotiation skills for conflict resolution
