Job summary
Brant Ward is an 18-bedded acute assessment ward for older adults experiencing complex mental health needs, based at Witham Court within the Older Adults and Frailty Division. We are seeking motivated, compassionate Band 5 Mental Health Nurses to join our established and supportive multidisciplinary team.
This is a rewarding and fast-paced inpatient environment, offering excellent opportunities to develop clinical skills in assessment, risk management and therapeutic engagement with older adults experiencing acute mental illness. The role is well suited to nurses who are passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care and who value teamwork, learning and reflective practice.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and compassionate inpatient nursing care to older adults experiencing acute mental health difficulties.
You will be responsible for completing comprehensive nursing and risk assessments and developing, implementing and evaluating individualised care plans in collaboration with service users, carers and the wider care team. The role involves delivering a range of therapeutic nursing interventions that promote recovery, autonomy and wellbeing.
As a named nurse, you will coordinate care, contribute to clinical reviews and work collaboratively with medical, allied health and community colleagues to support admission, treatment and discharge planning.
The post holder will contribute to the day-to-day running of the ward, supporting the nurse in charge to maintain high standards of care, safety and documentation in line with professional, organisational and information governance requirements.
You will support students and junior staff in practice, participate in supervision and training, and contribute to audit, service development and quality improvement activity within the ward setting.
