We are looking for an individual who is driven, motivated and confident in communicating with others to join the Therapy team on Brant Ward, our 18-bed acuteassessment ward for older adults experiencing complex mental health problems.

The role of Therapy Assistant will provide effective evidence-based therapeutic interventions forolder people referred to inpatient services under the direction of qualified Allied HealthProfessionals.

Therapy Assistants will work in close collaboration with AHPs and the wider multidisciplinary team, delivering therapy care plans that maintain and improve skills in activities of daily living,support communication and promote independence and choice at all times. Therapy Assistantswill assist in organising and delivering individual and group clinical programmes as agreed withsupervising AHPs in line with clinical governance and professional standards.

Main duties of the job

Responsibility of the post holder:

  • Manage a personal caseload under the supervision of a qualified clinician.
  • To deliver evidence-based interventions in both individual and group-based scenarios.
  • Contribute to the development of evidence-based practice within the service.
  • To be responsible for maintaining a stock of therapy equipment/materials if appropriate and its safe administration in the treatment of service users in your care.
  • Support other staff in facilitating and the delivery of activity programs.
  • To input accurate written and/or electronic clinical records in line with the Data Protection Act, Mental Health Act, other legislation, professional standards, local service standards and Trust standards.
  • Document confidential details of patients' activity and provide information which will contribute to the formulation of care plans/reports.
  • Work closely with individuals, carers, families, Therapy team and the wider MDT to achieve the best outcomes for individuals in their care.
  • Work closely with qualified AHPs such as Occupational Therapy & Physiotherapy to deliver evidence-based interventions.
