CAMHS Mental Health Liaison Support Worker

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to support children and young people (CYP) accessing our medical areas at the hospital, including A&E, paediatrics, and the hospital wards at Lincoln County hospital (LCH) and Pilgrim hospital Boston. (PHB) working shifts across a 24/7 rota.

The roles will be based within the CAMHS crisis teams in North of the county but also working closely with the adults MH Liaison Team and be based with them at night.

You will work closely with CAMHS CCETT staff to ensure a 24-hour service is offered for CYP experiencing a mental health crisis, including phone support out of hours to those on the case load, support to those accessing medical care or emergency care through ULHT or the S136 suite.

Under the supervision of CAMHS CCETT staff and the MH Liaison Practitioners you will support CYP in hospital by spending time with them, supporting them on the wards, implementing safety plans and care plans and care/treatment packages, alongside working with the staff within ULHT to understand the CYP needs. Providing a high standard of clinical care by supporting safe and effective treatment for CYP and families.

Main duties of the job

To work within the policies, protocols and clinical procedures of Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and to promote competent working practice within an integrated multi-disciplinary team.

  • To liaise with the registered practitioners, and carry out assigned duties as a member of the multi- disciplinary mental health team.
  • To be supported to work on own initiative as necessary and report to the team.
  • Promote equality for all patients and understand their health needs and carry out physical health checks when necessary
  • Demonstrate an awareness of service user and carer perspectives on the provision of treatment and continuing care.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping in accordance with Trust policy.
  • Participate regularly in management and clinical supervision sessions.
  • Liaise with representatives from associated voluntary and statutory organisations and facilitate good communication processes.
  • To work with service users to promote independence, maximising daily living skills.
  • Always act in a manner as to promote and safeguard the interests and well-being of patients.
  • Actively promote a responsible caring attitude at all times, treating all patients with dignity and respect.
  • To report any incident which does not comply with Trust policy regarding incident reporting
  • To work flexibly within CAMHS MH liaison team and CCETT service.
