Job summary

Job title: Mental Health Nurse Degree Apprenticeship

Work Base: University of Lincoln, placements will be Trust wide

Duration: Fixed term contract to cover the 3 year training period. Employment is guaranteed within the Trust as a registered mental health nurse on successful completion of the apprenticeship.

Salary: New to the NHS £16,500 - £23,875 (AFC T&Cs) or For existing NHS staff - dependent upon current banding

Exclusion criteria

Maths GCSE C or above (or 4 and above) or equivalent eg Functional skills level 2 and accompanying certificate

If you are already qualified as a Nurse in a different country but do not hold an NMC qualification

English GCSE C or above (or 4 and above) or equivalent eg Functional skills level 2 and accompanying certificate

If you require sponsorship - this role does not include sponsorship

96 UCAS points; eg A levels, extended diploma, level 3 in a healthcare related subject, Access course, degree qualification and accompanying certificate

You would like to train as an Adult or child nurse. This role is to be trained as a mental health nurse only

If your qualifications have been achieved outside of the UK YOU WILL NEEED a comparability statement which can be gain via Statement of Comparability

Lived in the UK for 3 years or more at the commencement of the course in January 2026

18 years or older at the commencement of the course in January 2026

Have the ability to travel independently across the county of Lincolnshire, to attend University of Lincoln and travel to different placement areas across the whole of Lincolnshire

Job responsibilities

The role will require a mixture of theoretical study at degree level, with attendance at the University of Lincoln and practice time within services. As an apprentice, it means you will be employed on a fixed term contract, to remain employed, you will successfully complete the nursing degree apprenticeship. On completion of your degree studies you will be a registered mental health nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and will be offered a registered nurse position within the Trust.

During your apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to experience placements within Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust and the wider Lincolnshire health and social care system. The trust provides mental health and learning disabilities services across the whole of the county of Lincolnshire and therefore placements may be at any geographical area of the county. Successful applicants will be required to travel independently around to county to fulfil these placements.
