The CAMHS Crisis and Enhanced Treatment Team (CCETT) provides crisis interventions to children and young people alongside intensive community treatment to young people experiencing an acute episode of mental health distress, in addition, the service aims to prevent admissions to out of area Tier 4 inpatient beds. The provision is available 7 days a week 24 hours a day with joint work between CCETT and the CYP-MH liaison team.The service is available to children and young people meeting the criteria for moderate to severe CAMHS as a minimum requirement, where mental health needs and emotional disturbance is to a degree that the level of risk the young person poses cannot be contained by Core CAMHS alone.This role will add to the medical input into this service and support in carrying out assessments with team members for these young people who need medical assessments, complex cases, medication initiation and reviews and assessments under the Mental Health Act as required. The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that works to ensure that clients receive a holistic and person-centred care and treatment programme. The cases presenting in this manner would range from significant self- harm, suicidal young people, acute presentations due to psychosis, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, eating disorders and those with mental health issues relating to abuse, placement breakdown, going into care.

Main duties of the job

  • To be part of the consultant cover rota both in and out of hours.
  • To be mindful of and actively involved in current safeguarding practices.
  • To work independently and autonomously as a specialist offering leadership in CAMHS based services. Supervision and mentoring opportunities are provided within this post if needed
  • To work clinically with children, young people and their families/carers and other allied professionals.
  • To provide a lead role in the assessment of children referred to either service.
  • To be involved in the assessment and management of urgent and routine referrals.
  • To participate in devising plans of action using a variety of therapeutic approaches.
  • To support the implementation of plans of action in partnership with parents/carers.
  • To be aware of the special expertise of different disciplines within the Service in order that the most appropriate help is provided for children and young people through consultation and/or active involvement of a worker from a different discipline
  • To contribute to specialist meetings for the services provided at the hospital and contributing to the development of service strategy
  • Contributing to in-house training programmes within the services
  • To take part in medically related audits
  • The post holder will be expected to contribute to the development of the service in line with the changing commissioning and commercial pressures in the sector.
