Job summary

Healthy Minds Lincolnshire provides early and preventative emotional wellbeing interventions for children, young people and their families across Lincolnshire. First established in 2017, the service has provided intervention, advice or guidance to over 5,500 children & young people across the County.

We are advertising for an exceptional Practitioner to join our team. This role will provide support via liaison & consultation to education providers and universal services. It will also involve leading evidence based groups & workshops to children & young people and parents/carers, as well as brief 1-1 interventions.

Healthy Minds Lincolnshire work with children and young people on a variety of emotional wellbeing needs including but not limited to: anxiety, low mood, self-harm, self-esteem, and anger. You will be able to provide excellent clinical & management supervision to Band 4 Practitioners within the team, with the ability to inspire and develop staff to their full potential. Main duties of the job

You will be a key link person for Education Settings within your area and will provide guidance and liaison to education providers and support in embedding the whole school approach. You will provide emotional wellbeing support to child and young people including their parents/carers and wider support network. Support will be provided by you in groups, workshops and on a one-to-one basis.

You will also provide management and clinical supervision to the Band 4 Practitioners within the team.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Clinical

  • Provide telephone consultations for children/young people and families (CYP-F) to establish the most appropriate intervention or signpost/refer to most appropriate service.
  • Co-ordinate, lead and deliver groups and workshops for children and young people (CYP) and parents.
  • Provide one-to-one intervention for a caseload of CYP.
  • Manage clinical risk and safeguarding concerns.

School Liaison

  • Provide advice/consultation to school staff and other professionals (e.g., childrens services) to upskill them in supporting the emotional wellbeing of CYP.
  • Liaise with other professionals/services re. referrals and according to CYP needs.
  • Attend Pastoral Support Plan (PSP) meetings with schools where a child is identified as experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA).
  • Provide monthly clinical supervision to education staff in term time.

Leadership and Team Support

  • Provide positive role modelling to Band 4 Practitioners & support the implementation of service improvements & changes within the team setting.
  • Act as main contact for allocated schools and cover other schools in the team according to need.
  • Oversee allocated geographical area of schools, delegating work to B4 Practitioners as appropriate.
  • Act as team champion as volunteered/allocated (e.g., Safeguarding, risk, SEND, Staff wellbeing etc).
  • Provide clinical support to B4 Practitioners with clinical risk management and safeguarding issues based on knowledge and experience as required.
  • Support induction of new members off staff, providing shadowing opportunities and completing induction pack with supervisees.
  • Act as Practice Supervisor or Assessor (registered nurse) for student nurses in the team.

Supervision

  • Provide management and clinical supervision for B4 Practitioners.
  • Conduct appraisals for supervisees.

Training

  • Support the Clinical Lead Practitioner to provide training and support to universal services, particularly schools to enable staff to have the skills and confidence to manage the emotional wellbeing needs of the children and young people in their care.

Qualifications

Essential

  • RMN//RCN/RN/RNLD/Social Worker/Occupational Therapist with current registration
  • Educated to degree level in mental health/social care or another relevant subject or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Post qualification courses in childcare practice or therapeutic work with children and families.
  • Good understanding of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and/or Solution Focused Therapy.
  • Training qualification.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of working with people with mental health needs, including those with emotional wellbeing needs.
  • Experience of delivering evidence-based interventions in a one-to-one and/or group setting.
  • Experience of providing training to professionals and children and young people (or able to demonstrate aptitude).
  • Good knowledge of universal children's services.

Desirable

  • Significant experience of working with children and young people who have mental health or emotional wellbeing needs.
  • Experience of delivering therapeutic interventions.
  • Local knowledge of children's services.
