Job summary
An exciting opportunity has risen for a Band 4 (A4C) Medical Secretary to join the Dementia Home Treatment Team, working 5 days a week undertaking the core hours of 9am to 5pm.
The post holder will be expected to provide efficient and effective medical secretarial support to a Consultant and associated Medical Staff. You will also assist in the organisation of the Consultant's workload. Having a positive, enthusiastic and "can do" attitude with a strong work ethic is important. You must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable in dealing with patients and carers' telephone calls and queries. You will require competency in all Microsoft Office 365 packages. Knowledge of RIO would be advantageous. The ability to demonstrate your initiative and work as part of a dedicated team is an important part of this job.
The medical secretary faces a challenging range of tasks including acting as a personal assistant to Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be required to support the co ordination of team working, supporting Multi -disciplinary meetings and associated administrative work.
A degree of office based and flexible working from home is available but will need to be discussed to ensure that this supports service needs and demands.
The team supports patients over the age of 65 who present with dementia, the team consists of a Consultant Psychiatrist, specialist doctor, Team Co-ordindator, Dementia Home Treatment Team Practitioners.
Main duties of the job
To provide efficient and effective medical secretarial support to Consultants and Junior Medical Staff and assist in the organisation of the Consultant's workload.
The post holder will be expected to act on their own initiative and provide cross cover/support for other secretaries as necessary to facilitate effective service function.
The medical secretary faces a challenging range of tasks including acting as a personal assistant to the Consultant and can also be required to be the central hub for the coordination of the team's workings.
