We are seeking a proactive and detail-focusedInformation Governance Officer to join our Information Governance (IG) team at Moorfields. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of the Trust's Information Governance strategy, ensuring we meet our data protection, security, and compliance obligations across the organisation.

You will play a key role in responding to IG enquiries, supporting Freedom of Information (FOI) processes, maintaining IG records and systems, and assisting with Data Security & Protection Toolkit requirements. This role is ideal for someone with excellent organisational skills, strong communication abilities, and an interest in developing their career within information governance and data protection.

Main duties of the job

This post will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operational enquiries within the organisation against compliance against Information Governance/Data Protection.

Monitor, co-ordinate and process all requests against the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations and the Trust's procedure for dealing with requests for information

To deliver Data Security Awareness training sessions to the organisation where required

To support the Information Governance team with the production and collection of evidence for the annual Data Security & Protection Toolkit

Undertake audit activity in relation to information governance

Deputise for the Information Governance Compliance Officer as and when required.

Support the IG team with identifying data flows, information assets and associated risks.

Provide the IG secretarial function including arranging meetings, minuting and note taking.

Support the IG team with administrative support as required.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for information Governance enquiries, some of which will be of a confidential nature, referring enquirers onward whereappropriate.
  • Assist with the production and collation of evidence to support compliance with the Data Security & Protection Toolkit.
  • Monitoring and co-ordination of requests received to meet the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, create performance reports ofactivity and escalate to the Information Governance Manager where issues occur in line with the FOI process.
  • Promote and raise staff awareness of information Governance by working with the Information Governance Manager and other team members to plan, organise and deliver training programmes to staff at all levels of the organisation. This may include staff induction, mandatory training including face to face and e-learning and ad hoc training.
  • Create FOI performance reports against key performance indicators for the SIRO, Head of Information Governance and Information Governance Committee.
  • Assist the IG team in ensuring policies, procedures and learning materials are updated andmaintained.
  • Assist the Trusts Information Asset Owner and Information Asset Administrators in their role by providing access to training and systems. Supporting maintenance of data flow mapping and Information Asset Management.
  • Responsible for ordering and receiving stock for the IG department.
  • Provide support for the Trusts Information asset management platform and keep entries regularly updated.
  • Maintain and log Information Governance and Caldicott enquiries and keep the teams knowledge management database up to date.
  • Support the team with Information Governance incident investigations whererequired.
  • Monitor and update theInformation Governance intranet pages.
  • Day to day responsibilities will also include organising logistical arrangements for events, briefings, meetings, and workshops and ensuringIG team members receive effective and efficient support to assist in the delivery of their work.
  • To support the co-ordination ofinformation asset management including Data Protection Impact Assessments for new and existing systems/processes involving processing of personal data and organise meetings as appropriate.
  • Plan, organise and coordinate the Information Committee Governance meetings. Preparing, collating and distributing meeting papers, maintaining action trackers, and taking minutes.
  • Provide administrative support to the Head of Information Governance
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the Information Governance team asrequired.
  • The post holder must be able to work autonomously and without direct supervision andreport and be accountable to their line manager. To work independently, the post holder must be creative, proactive, use initiative, and prioritise their own workload with conflicting deadlines.
