Job summary
The post-holder will be part of an innovative research team led by Professor Michel Michaelides, Professor of Ophthalmology at UCL and Consultant Ophthalmologist in the Genetic Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital. The principle aim for this post will be to facilitate research and clinical trials in Stargardt disease, Retinitis Pigmentosa, and Leber Congenital Amaurosis. The individual will be involved in the detailed phenotyping of patients with inherited retinal disease to identify suitable participants for clinical trials and natural history studies. They will also see the recruited trial / study patients at their screening, baseline and follow-up visits.
Main duties of the job
- Collect genetic and clinical data (including history, examination findings, any investigations) and
- Collate in custom-designed databases
- Work collaboratively with other members of the research team and clinical colleagues
- Recruit and co-ordinate patients for studies and clinical trial
- Organise, maintain and analyse project date
- Responsibility for clinical data management and liaison with the lead investigato
- Participate in weekly laboratory meeting
- Active participation in other ongoing research project
- Achieve goals, agreed in discussions with their line manage
- Present the results of the project in national and international meetings
